De'Aaron Fox Painting

This past week, I have been working on my biggest art project yet! It is a 24’’x36’’ painting of De'Aaron Fox, a basketball player for the Sacramento Kings. I am creating this for a friend who is an avid fan of the Kings. I started out by printing out a reference photo and creating a grid on the paper and a corresponding grid on the canvas. I then proceeded to hand sketch the design onto the canvas. Because this was my first time doing a piece on this scale, it was challenging for me and definitely pushed me to improve my attention to detail. After sketching the piece onto the canvas, I started to go over the sketch with acrylic paint. This part took the longest as I had to add multiple layers and shades to the work. This really tested my precision skills in painting. Even though I was nervous about the outcome, I trusted in the progress and had fun creating the piece. The painting turned out well and my friend loved it! This represents learning outcome one because throughout the process I found that I am strong at knowing how to balance my piece and create flow and contrast, and I found areas that I can further improve such as precision with the painting and sketching and my attention to detail.
