12-Mile Biking Adventure
This past weekend, I went on my first ever 12-mile bike ride! I have always loved biking but I rarely got the chance to go, especially for a long distance. The previous day I had gone for a 5-mile bike ride and I wanted to challenge myself more so I planned to go on a 10-mile bike ride. I ended up going for 12 because why not! I biked along a couple of streams and let me tell you, it was not as easy as I thought it would be! Because I was in a wide-open area, it felt like I was in a wind tunnel. Battling the wind was challenging but also a great resistance workout! I made sure to stay hydrated and take short breaks when I needed to. At first, the distance seemed daunting but as I was riding I realized that while it would be a challenge, I knew I could do it. When I got back home, while I felt more than exhausted, I also felt triumphant because that was the first time biking that long of a distance. This experience demonstrates learning outcome 2 because I undertook a challenge and developed skills and grew in my mindset. Not only did I strengthen my biking and cardiovascular skills, but I also learned that if I put my mind to something, I can do it and that I can do more than I expect sometimes. A lot of it is about your mindset - something that I’m super passionate about and will write about in the future so be on the lookout!! Hopefully, next time I’ll be able to go for a 20-mile bike ride!
