Power Painting
Over the past few weeks, I have been planning my next painting which will be on a large canvas. Following my tiger painting, I decided I wanted my theme to be power. So, for this next painting, I wanted to paint a woman warrior. This took a lot of time to plan and sketch out the details. I had to decide what position she would be in, her clothes and other accessories, and what message I wanted to send. I did a few sketches and got some inspiration from looking at other artworks and native tribe warriors. Once I had a good idea of what I wanted her to look like, I had to start measuring my canvas and sketching her on the canvas. This part was very hard and I’m still working on it to get all the proportions correct. This whole process has been a long one and has taken a lot of time and thought, a few times I changed up my plans and had to start over again. However, once I fully sketch the drawing out on the canvas I can then begin to paint. This art experience demonstrates learning outcome 4 because I have shown commitment to my project and perseverance in my work. I can’t wait to start painting! To work off of this, I created a collage that inspires me within my theme and one that reflects my emotions during this process. I will continue to go back to this collage for inspiration because it reminds me of what I wish to see in my own work!
