Park Clean-Up

Today I volunteered at a park clean-up for Cherryhurst park. For about an hour, I worked with other volunteers to help clean up Cherryhurst by raking and picking up leaves, picking up trash, and just making the environment a nicer place. Doing volunteer work like this is rewarding for both me and the community. When I am doing something for the greater good or doing something for my community I feel like I am making an impact and helping to better our community as a whole. The reason why we had a park clean-up is because parks are a public place for everyone and we want the environment to be nice and clean so people that go can really enjoy nature and being outside. Not only does it attract people to the park, but it also brings people together- it is a communal space. This volunteer work is in line with learning outcome six, which is demonstrating engagement with issues of global significance. I engaged in service work that was done for the environment and for our community. Having a clean environment has global significance because if we all work to maintain the environment around us, our world would be a much better place.
